I began formal piano lessons around the age of 4, organ and clarinet at age 9. In 1990, I started teaching in my home studio while my family and I lived in central New York State. My husband and I moved to the Adirondack Mountains in 2004 where I taught music in two catholic elementary schools and continued to teach piano. Along my musical journey I’ve been accompanist for middle/high school choruses & musicals, community chorales & stage performances and minister of music & worship (organist) for many church denominations. I now have a private studio with a roster of 35 students, ages 4 to adult where I teach piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, beginning percussion and organ. We learn and have great fun through our semester music themes – “Piano Karate”, “Reach Beyond the Stars” and “Medieval, The Magic Lute”, to name a few. My students perform at 3, sometimes 4 recitals during the year and they are encouraged to participate in the yearly NYSSMA Solo Festivals held each Spring. Student curriculum includes methods from Alfred Premier, Piano Pronto, & Supersonics Piano all garnished with technology. And now I feel my studio is complete with the addition of KiddyKeys, allowing me to include the “Itty-bitty students” whom I dearly adore. Group (KiddyKeys) and private lessons are available year-round in 30 or 60 minute increments.
